About the project
“On the Nexus of EU Competition Policy and Data Protection” is an interdisciplinary EUTOPIA-funded project in collaboration with the University of Warwick. As cases intertwining these domains continue to rise, discussions on their interaction lack definitive solutions, leaving numerous questions unanswered. The issue remains high on the policy agenda due to the dominance of the digital platforms involved and given the current shortcomings of competition policy in handling major cases. Bridging the gap between legal and economic perspectives, the project engages scholars, practitioners, and officials with the aim of providing insights into the challenges arising from the interplay between competition policy and data protection. As such, it seeks to deliver practical solutions through the development of an evaluation framework on how to adequately incorporate data protection concerns in competition cases.
